This has caused a major bottleneck in the past. This will only be eased by more printers. The program uses Epson FX compatible control codes so a printer such as the Brother HL8 in Epson FX 80 mode is needed. The Sharp printers we had which broke down will work. I'm not sure about the ICL Panasonic, and laser direct and Apple Laserwriters definitely will not work. It takes approximately 5 mins to print a set of reports for one tutor group for a subject and so all the reports should take about 10 hours of printing for a year group barring snags. If all staff have their discs ready and 2 printers are available (with toner!) It should take no more than 2 working days to print a year group's reports.
Reply slips and front covers can be done using Impression and Laser Direct well in advance. It would be best to get the Art and Design experts to design a proper front cover and use card instead of paper with better binding. A much more professional job would not be a lot more expensive.
